Privacy policy

Last updated: July 29, 2026.This policy describes how LiabilityGap.ca ("we") handles personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act(PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

What we collect

• Quiz answers: your responses about home ownership, asset ranges, vehicles, and household risk factors. You can complete the quiz and see your results without providing any contact information.
• Contact information you choose to submit: name, email address, phone number, province, and the first three characters of your postal code (FSA). We do not collect street addresses, dates of birth, Social Insurance Numbers, or health information.
• Consent records: when you submit the form, we log the time and IP address of your consent, as CASL requires us to be able to demonstrate.
• Analytics: standard, aggregated website analytics (pages viewed, quiz steps completed). Analytics data is not tied to your name or contact details.

How we use it

• To show you your lawsuit-exposure estimate and email you your results.
• If — and only if — you checked the broker box: to introduce you to one licensed insurance broker in your province, who receives your contact details and quiz profile so they can contact you about liability coverage.
• To publish aggregated, anonymized statistics (never individual profiles).

Consent and withdrawal

Contact from us or a partner broker happens only with your express consent, given by an unchecked-by-default checkbox. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@liabilitygap.ca or using the unsubscribe link in any email. Withdrawal is processed within 10 business days as CASL requires.

Storage and retention

Lead records are stored in access-controlled databases. We retain lead records for up to 3 years to satisfy CASL record-keeping obligations, then delete them. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information at any time.

Who we share with

One broker partner per referral, and the service providers that run this site (hosting, database, email delivery). We do not sell your information to marketing lists, and we never share it with more than one broker per referral.
