Editorial policy

Every page on this site is meant to be the most accurate, most specific resource available on its topic. Here is how we hold ourselves to that.

Sourcing

• Legal claims cite reported Canadian decisions (with CanLII references where available), provincial statutes, or regulator publications.
• Insurance mechanics are checked against actual Canadian policy wordings and insurer documentation — not American articles, which describe a different market.
• Cost figures are labelled as estimates and describe typical Canadian broker pricing ranges. They are never quotes.

Review cadence

Every article displays its last-updated date. Cost pages and provincial pages are reviewed at least twice a year and after any relevant regulatory change (for example, changes to provincial auto insurance systems). Scenario pages are reviewed annually.

Independence

Broker partners pay for introductions to consenting consumers. They do not pay for placement, do not review content before publication, and cannot request changes to editorial content. No insurer sponsors this site.

Corrections

Found an error? Email editor@liabilitygap.ca. We correct substantive errors within five business days and note material corrections on the affected page.
